“Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme” (Academy) is APCICT’s flagship initiative to equip government officials and policymakers with the essential knowledge and skills to leverage ICT for national and regional socio-economic development. Launched in 2008, the Academy’s comprehensive curriculum was developed in partnership with ICT experts from countries throughout the world. Currently, 11 Academy modules are available in 16 languages with new training modules and more translations underway to meet the ICT capacity needs of ESCAP member and associate-member States. Academy Module 1: An Overview of ICTs and Sustainable Development

This module addresses the SDGs through the prism of ICTs. It provides an overview of the intersections between ICTs and the SDGs, drawing attention to the various dimensions and sectors in which ICTs can provide valuable support through national governments’ plans and projects. The module invites learners to explore the various dimensions of the linkage through case studies of ICT applications in key sectors of development in Asia-Pacific countries.

Academy Module 2: ICT for Development (ICTD) Policy, Process and Governance

This module focuses on ICTD policymaking and governance, providing critical information about aspects of national policies, strategies and frameworks that promote ICTD.

Academy Module 5: Internet Governance

This module describes the ongoing development of international policies and procedures that govern the use and operation of the Internet and provides an overview of the issues and specific challenges related to Internet Governance in the regional context.

Academy Module 7 : ICT Project Management in Theory and Practice

This module provides an introduction to basic project management concepts that are relevant in ICTD projects. It introduces methods, processes and project management disciplines commonly used by development and ICT service management practitioners.

Academy Module 8: Options for Funding ICT for Development

This module discusses these alternative funding options for ICTD and e-government projects. Public-private partnerships are highlighted as a particularly useful funding option for ICT-based services and e-government initiatives in developing countries.

Academy Module 9: ICT for Disaster Risk Management

The module is designed to promote a framework for matching available technology with disaster risk management processes and to provide examples of a range of ICT applications already implemented in different places in Asia.

Academy Module 10: ICT, Climate Change and Green Growth

This module addresses the role that information and communication technologies (ICTs) can play in enhancing the ability and capacity of humans to deal with the impact of climate change and contribute to sustainable development.

Academy Module 11: Social Media for Development

This module aims to strengthen capacities of policymakers and government officials to leverage the potential of Social Media for development .

Academy M&E Toolkit : Monitoring and Evaluation Toolkit

The M&E Toolkit helps partners develop and strengthen the M&E system in their institutions. It will assist the partners in determining very important inputs, activities, tools, and resources needed to design, build or improve and implement an appropriate M&E system.
