Primer Series on ICTD for Youth


"Primer Series on ICTD for Youth" (Primer Series) aims to cultivate students and youth to become future leaders who are equipped with the knowledge and skills on using ICT for sustainable development. It was launched in February 2012 to provide learning resources that institutions of higher education in Asia and the Pacific can use, thereby expanding the coverage of ICTD education in university curricula. Primer 1 : An Introduction to ICT for Development

This Primer seeks to provide an introduction to and preliminary understanding of the linkages between ICTs and the achievement of the human development goals in society.

Primer 2 : Project Management and ICTD

This Primer provides fundamental concepts and tools utilized in project planning and management. There are two parts to this Primer. Part 1 discusses general concepts/tools in project management for development.  Part 2 looks into the use of ICTs in managing projects, and delves into tools and techniques for managing ICTD projects.

Primer 3 : ICT for Disaster Risk Management

This Primer is designed to promote a framework for matching available technology with DRM processes. It provides examples of a range of information and communication technology (ICT) applications already implemented in Asia and the Pacific as well as the rest of the world.

Primer 4 : ICT, Climate Change, and Green Growth

This Primer addresses the role that information and communication technology (ICT) can play in enhancing the ability and capacity of humans to deal with the impact of climate change and contribute to sustainable development.
